Just like we have to be good citizens in our larger community, we have to do our part in our family. Conflict: I could write a whole book on this. The short version? We moderate and help walk them through their conflict. After that we make sure all their needs are being met.
What will they be when they grow up? Hopefully confident, educated, kind, caring, free-thinking women.
Daddy Takes Care of Her Little Problem (1-5)
Q: With 5 almost 6 children how do you manage space wise in terms of sleeping, storing clothes and toys and just finding space for everyone to do their own thing? I have 4 children in a 3 bed house and we are right at our limits space-wise but I would love more children. Xxx ps you should be extremely proud of what you have achieved with TLB, there is nothing compares to it and it is a backbone for many women on their breastfeeding journey! We live in a tiny house. An old, tiny house that we rent. About 1, square feet and 3 bedroom, 1 bath. The Piano Man made loft style beds with a play platform in the middle to help maximize space.
We try to use the walls as much as possible and we keep things simple in terms of play things. Lots of cubbies, baskets, bins, shelves, and boxes trying to contain our stuff. When it gets to be too much, we purge. Q: How do you grocery shop and prepare healthy meals for so many people? I have a really hard time with meal planning. I think we spend way too much money on groceries for 2 adults and a baby. Any tips would be great. Well, this is just about lunches but I wrote some about that here.
Otherwise, I do something similar for our regular meals. We shop primarily on the outside of the store buying whole foods such as produce, whole grains, dairy, etc. Most everything we make is from scratch. We have a list that we occasionally update and add to but about 50 of our favorite meals are on there, all price ranges.
Usually we pick a few main meals and that becomes our shopping list plus some staples we like to have on hand. My DH and I seem to have litters, we could easily jump from 2 to 4 to 6, etc. But we do sit down to create a ball park budget and communicate frequently about where we stand.
We have no debt. Our van is old and we paid cash for it.

Our rent is low and well under what we could afford. Much of what we do i.
What is phishing?
We make what we can and we shop at thrift stores over buying brand new most of the time. Sometimes we just choose to go without until we figure out how we can afford it.

This has taught us so much, actually. Given us incredible opportunities to slow down if need be to make things work. Most importantly, we rarely stress about money. Originally I tried to answer all your questions in one post but it was too darn long, you can find more questions here.
Here's the Latest Episode from Get Booked – Book Riot:
Much too long for sleep deprived people to read any way. So I broke it into two parts.
I need to make it clear, I am not an expert, not a doctor, and have no background that qualifies me as an authority on the subject. First I would try to sooth them without the breast but with cuddling with me. Sometimes I think it works great to have the non-breastfeeding partner to do the soothing when night weaning. There is a significant bond between mother and child and that bond still needs to be honored. Honestly, I think being denied access to the mother could be traumatizing if her presence is truly what the child needs.
I would do so because I would have to consider that my child is responding this way simply because they are not ready to night wean. In Dr. Could you have coped with this method on your own, or do you think it worked so well because you had the help of your husband on the worst nights? Single mother here, trying to work out how best to go about on my own. Yes, I do think it would have worked on my own.
The hardest part for me on my own was staying awake enough to follow through with the plan and not just nurse so I could try to sleep. Do you regret not night weaning sooner? Also, sometimes my 12mo will wake up and be up for 1. Does night weaning help with this problem also? Part of me wishes we had tried it sooner but only because I was feeling so incredibly burned out as a parent and getting sick of breastfeeding. Those feeling have completely lifted with the night weaning, not that I always love breastfeeding but I am enjoying it more and can relax to be more in the moment.
We co-sleep and we do get our rest for the time being, but would be nice to have a bit of a perspective. Why almond milk?
We go for high calorie, high fat and high protein foods in the evening. I like that it is a good source of protein and is yummy. Smunchie still nurses often, several times a day. How do you get her to go down without breastfeeding her to sleep?
Books by Judith Culvers
Because I have older kids or used to be on-call to attend births I always felt like I had to be sure my babies could go down without the breast. Around 7. A story or two usually French selections daddy reads with Smunchie and Squiggle Bug on the couch while Squiggle Bug drinks a cup of milk and Smunchie a cup of almond milk.
Then brushing teeth and getting into pajamas. After giving good night kisses to the entire family we split up, The Piano Man taking Squiggle Bug and Smunchie is with me. Then I say a little prayer with her, we snuggle, I start singing something and stand up, she hands me everything she wants in bed with her usually a couple cooks, her lovey and her doll and sometimes random things like shoes , I lay those down and then she reaches for me. We stand just outside her bed hugging while I continue to sing and then I lay her down. I stay in the room singing for a bit until I can hear her settling and then I tell her good night and slip out.
Thank you for letting me share our journey with you. When is a good time to start thinking about night weaning and moving baby into their own sleep space? How do you go about it?
I really think the answer to this is very unique to each family and each baby. When the transition happens they get to be with a big sister, which they usually think is pretty cool. She just has a higher need to be close to someone at night. Sometimes she seeks out a sister but usually she prefers her daddy. Only uses norma cups or a straw!

She does, however, love regular cups. What I do is let her take a drink from the glass of water I have by my bed every night if she seems thirsty when she wakes. We just sit on the bed together and I help her hold the cup steady while she guides it to her mouth to drink. It works great for us. If thirst is what woke her up she will settle quickly after that. What are some cues that your baby maybe ready for night time weaning currently 9 mos and night nursing times?
Studies have shown that babies under 12 months still need to wake often to eat both for nutrition and for safety in their sleep cycle. After the one year mark though any combination of these may be signs of readiness to night wean:. If it is a giant struggle or at any time the parents feel this is all wrong and not what they want to be doing then they should stop. Remaining flexible is perhaps the most important key to night weaning. Maybe all of parenting actually. How do I night wean her gently?
